Message from Lord Carter (Digital Britain)
BERR endorses Rutland Telecom

"The availability of broadband is increasingly important to UK businesses and citizens and it's crucial we ensure that rural communities aren't left behind as the rest of the country enjoys the benefits of a 21st Century Digital Britain. Local infrastructure projects - such as the work that Rutland Telecom is doing - have a key role to play in the roll-out of next generation broadband; helping speed up the availability of new services in remote areas. We congratulate Rutland Telecom on what has been achieved so far and will be watching their future projects with interest."
Stephen Carter: Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform 15/5/09

Major investment in gigabit infrastructure

We offer broadband services using ADSL2+, VDSL, SDSL, wireless and fibre-optics. We have implemented an IP-based network for voice & data in Rutland, previously a technologically-isolated rural community suffering from poor broadband speeds. We have invested in a gigabit network infrastructure which will satisfy Rutland's future demands for bandwidth such as BBC I-player and SKY HD. We offer the fastest upload and download speeds in the County and our bonded ADSL2+ residential service is the fastest in the UK. Our services are available to 50% of the population of Rutland and we aim for 100% coverage within 1 year. We are recognised in industry as the first UK Communications Provider to develop Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC) with full access to copper lines to premises. This was achieved in Lyddington in 2009 which now has the fastest broadband over phone lines of any rural UK village. Other similar deployments are progressing. Our specialist area is delivering fast broadband services to rural areas using FTTC (subloop unbundling) and we welcome enquiries from other communities around the UK looking for a solution to poor broadband speeds.
